A detached garage was destroyed by fire Saturday in north Visalia, causing two injuries, burning down power lines and threatening neighboring homes, Visalia firefighters reported.
Firefighters arrived at 506 W. Goshen Ave. near West Street just before 11:30 a.m. with a detached garage in the rear of the property fully engulfed in flames, reported Brian Adney, battalion chief for the Visalia Fire Department.
Firefighters, with aid from the Tulare County Fire Department, were able to extinguish the blaze before it threatened neighboring structures, but not before an estimated $45,000 in damage was caused to the garage.
One person, whose name was not disclosed, was treated for chest pain at the scene, and a firefighter was transported to Kaweah Delta medical center for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation, Adney reported.
Firefighters conducted an investigation, but as of earlier today no cause for the fire had been disclosed.
