จริงๆ standard convention ทางคอมพิวเตอร์ ใช้อย่างนี้ครับ

Mb = Megabit
MB = Megabyte

ความหมายของ Mega ในกรณีนี้ มีได้ 2 อย่าง คือ
1. อย่างที่รู้กันทั่วไปว่า 1 Megabyte = 1024 x 1024 bytes = 2^20 bytes
2. เนื่องจากคำว่า Mega ในความหมายทางวิทยาศาสตร์ทั่วไป หมายถึง 1,000,000 = 10^6
ได้ด้วย เพื่อแยกความแตกต่างให้ชัดเจน ในทางคอมพิวเตอร์จึงมีอีกคำหนึ่งขึ้นมา คือ Mega
Binary Byte = Mebibyte = MiB = 1024 kibibytes (KiB) = 1024 x 1024 bytes
= 2^20 bytes และในกรณีนี้ คำว่า Megabyte จึงหมายถึง 1,000,000 bytes = 1,000
Kilobytes = 10^6 bytes ครับ

ดังนั้น คุณหมอชี้ถูกประเด็นว่า
1. mb ที่ อ.สุพัตร์ใช้ ไม่มีความชัดเจน ว่าหมายถึง bits (b เล็ก) หรือ bytes (B ใหญ่)
กันแน่ แม้ว่าในทาง networking โดยมากจะใช้หน่วย bits ในการพูดถึง bandwidth เป็นหลัก
ซึ่งก็จะขัดแย้งกับที่ อ.สุพัตร์กล่าวถึง bytes/sec

2. ไม่ชัดเจนว่า M ในกรณีนี้ หมายถึง 10^6 หรือ 2^20 กันแน่ (แต่โดยทั่วไปมักจะหมายความว่า
2^20 ครับ)

แต่สิ่งที่คุณหมออธิบายคลาดเคลื่อน คือ การใช้ kilobyte (KB) กับ kbps ครับ
เพราะควรจะเป็น kilobit มากกว่า

kbps = kilobits per second = kBps (kilobytes per second) * 8
Mbps = megabits per second = MBps (megabytes per second) * 8
